Location: Head Office in Calgary Hybrid – Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays in office, Mondays and Fridays working from home.

Position Summary:

H&R Block Canada, the leader in the tax preparation industry in Canada for 60 years, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our team.

As a Senior HR Business Partner, reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you will be responsible for a variety of key HR functions. These will include developing content for leadership training and development; managing the full life cycle recruitment process for our corporate office and field leadership roles; overseeing onboarding and offboarding processes; and administering HR systems.

You will also play a key role in championing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives, managing employee relations, and conducting workplace investigations. There will be the opportunity to contribute to the development of HR policy content and standard operating procedures, ensuring understanding and company-wide compliance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Full life cycle recruitment, onboarding and offboarding for all corporate and Field Leadership roles.
  • Oversight and administration of all HRIS systems (i.e., SharePoint & Teamo).
  • Manage and oversee our annual Associate Engagement survey, providing valuable insights and trend analysis and reporting.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues, ensuring thorough and unbiased workplace investigations, and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with People Leaders and Associates to provide coaching on performance management, career growth, succession planning, and support in resolving workplace issues.
  • Review and develop required HR policies annually, providing guidance and interpretation to ensure compliance with employment standards regulations.
  • Well versed on provincial employment legislations, ensuring understanding and adherence across the organization.
  • Serving as a backup to our Health & Safety program acting as a co-chair H&S committee member, fire warden and solid understanding of H&S procedures and legislation.

Education and Experience:

Degree in Human Resources or a related field and a minimum of 7 years of experience as an HR generalist.

Skills and Attributes:

•    Excellent English verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in French is a definite asset.

•    In-depth knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and employment standards across Canada.
