The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Team Lead, FP&A, the Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Finance department with administrative, accounting, analytical, and bookkeeping functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and high technical expertise in Excel.

This position is based in Calgary and offers a hybrid work schedule, with 3 days per week in-office.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Compile, assess and review financial information.
  • Prepare financial forms, documents, and reports.
  • Prepare daily Instant Refund reconciliations.
  • Monitor daily funding requirements & communicate with the Treasury department when more funding is required.
  • Prepare various account and banking reconciliations monthly.
  • Prepare various journal entries accurately and efficiently.
  • Investigate discrepancies and follow up with stakeholders (funding partners, field offices, Finance team members.) when required.
  • Preparation of the bad debt analysis working paper and journal entries.
  • Pay with Refund (PWR) daily reconciliation review.
  • Reporting on several business lines (Instant Refund, Pay with Refund, Advantage Card).

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or a combination of equivalent education/experience.
  • 2+ years of accounting or finance experience.
  • Working knowledge of advanced accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software.
  • Expertise in MS Excel, including the ability to manage and manipulate large data sets using Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, and IF functions. Financial modeling experience is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and as a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively deal with issues independently or communicate them to the appropriate stakeholders.
